The inspiration phase happens somewhere you are not
Discovery in this category runs on image platforms, and a search engine only gets involved once somebody is ready to act.
People collect kitchen and bathroom images for months on visual platforms. That is where taste gets formed, and it is largely invisible to a contractor thinking about search rankings.
The practical consequence is that search traffic in this category arrives later and warmer than in trades where the search is the beginning. Somebody typing about remodelers has already done a lot of thinking.
It also means the pages that work are not inspiration pages. Competing with an image platform on inspiration is a losing exercise, and the visitor has already had that need met.
What they lack is everything practical: cost, duration, sequence, who to hire, and how to get from a board of images to something buildable in their actual house.
Being present in the inspiration phase is worth doing on its own terms, and the site's job is the phase after it. Confusing the two produces a beautiful website that answers nothing.
