    Which HVAC searches a Chicago contractor can realistically take

    Organic search pays a Chicago HVAC company for the work people think about before they buy. A boiler that limped through last winter. A bungalow with a second floor nobody can sleep in. A landlord deciding whether to replace two furnaces or one. The 2am no-heat call mostly goes to whoever is closest and answers, and no amount of writing changes that. Knowing which of those two you are chasing changes the pages you write, the towns you cover and the season you judge the work in. What follows is how we would pick the winnable queries for a shop working Cook County and the collar counties, and what we would leave alone.

    Boiler and steam heat questions are the pages no national franchise will write

    Much of the older housing stock here is heated by hot water or steam, and almost nobody has published a good page about it.

    National content libraries are written for forced air in a warm climate. They cover filter sizes and condenser coils. A homeowner in a greystone with cast iron radiators, hearing a bang in the pipes every morning, finds nothing that matches the building.

    The query family is specific and close to buying: a radiator that will not heat, boiler pressure readings, steam vents, one-pipe versus two-pipe, adding cooling to a house with no ductwork, whether to convert a boiler to forced air at all. Each of those is a page. Each ends in a job with a real ticket.

    The pages that win are written by somebody who has been in that basement. Name the equipment. Say what you check first, what the usual causes are, what a repair generally involves, and when replacement is the honest answer rather than the profitable one.

    Expect thin traffic on any one of these. The family together is not thin, and the person reading it has already decided to hire somebody.

    A Logan Square two-flat searches nothing like a Naperville subdivision

    One service area page cannot speak to a 1920s two-flat and a 2005 subdivision, because the building, the equipment and the question are all different.

    In the city you are working narrow lots with rear alley access, shared walls, a boiler in the basement and a condenser wedged into a gangway or set on a flat roof. In Naperville or Schaumburg you are more often looking at forced air, an attic run and a driveway you can park a truck in.

    A location page that swaps the town name and nothing else ranks for nothing and reads like a template, because it is one. A page that describes what your crew actually finds in Berwyn or Oak Park, and how that differs from a newer build out in DuPage County, reads like knowledge.

    Useful rule before writing any town page: can you say three true, specific things about the work there that would not be true two towns over? If not, skip the page. Thin location pages drag the whole site.

    Building type pages often do better than town pages. Bungalow, two-flat, three-flat, greystone, courtyard building. They pull from the whole metro and they match the words people use for their own house.

    Three counties of coverage will not fit inside one Google Business Profile

    The map ranks your address while your trucks cover a region, and the gap between those two is exactly what content has to cover.

    Proximity generally carries a lot of weight in local pack results. A shop on the North Side can be strong in Ravenswood and Andersonville and effectively invisible to somebody searching from Naperville, no matter how good the site is.

    Nothing you publish fixes that directly. What content can do is win the standard organic results underneath the pack, where proximity matters less and specificity matters more. Boiler replacement in Oak Park. Ductless in a Wicker Park condo with no ducts and no room for them.

    If real revenue comes from DuPage, Lake or Will County, it needs its own body of content and, in most cases, a genuine staffed location before the map treats you as local there. Renting a mailbox to fake it is a listing suspension waiting to happen, and the guidelines are worth confirming before anyone spends money on it.

    Decide up front which parts of the map you buy with ads and which parts you earn with pages. Trying to earn all of it is how budgets disappear.

    Ducting a bungalow with no chase is a query family of its own

    Adding or fixing air distribution in a house that was never designed for it is common work here and badly served in search results.

    The Chicago bungalow has a full basement, an expanded attic and no chase between floors. The upstairs bakes in July and is cold in January. The owner does not search for tonnage. They search for a hot upstairs, or for cooling in a house with no ducts.

    A page that walks through the real options earns that reader: high velocity, ductless heads and where they can go, running a chase through a closet, what each choice means for plaster, for noise and for how long the crew is in the house. If you are willing to stand behind price ranges, publish them. If not, be specific about disruption instead.

    The two-flat has its own version. Two systems and one chimney, or one boiler heating both units and a landlord who wants heat separated and billed. Almost nobody has written that page honestly.

    Pages like these take a day to write instead of an hour, and they keep earning long after a thin service page has been pushed down by somebody else's thin service page.

    Publish the frozen coil and ice dam answers in October, because January is too late

    Content has a lead time, so seasonal pages have to be live and indexed before the weather sends people looking for them.

    Freeze and thaw drives a predictable winter set: a condensate line that froze, a furnace short cycling in a deep cold snap, a heat pump running defrost and a homeowner convinced it is broken, cold air off a supply near an exterior wall, ice dams and the attic heat loss behind them.

    Publishing on the coldest morning of the year is a race you lose. Get the set live in the fall, link it from the home page in November, and revisit the advice each year rather than only the date stamp.

    Read each page as somebody standing in a cold kitchen. Does it say what to check in the first two minutes, what is safe to do without a technician, and at what point to stop and call? Write generally on anything to do with safety, and tell people to call the gas utility immediately if they smell gas. Honesty on that page converts better than a call to action does.

    The summer set is smaller here than in the South but real: humidity in an old house, a condenser in a three foot gangway, an attic air handler in a converted bungalow.

    Boiler work and furnace changeouts deserve two separate scoreboards

    A single blended organic number hides which half of the content is actually producing work.

    Tag every inquiry at intake by system type and job type. Then look at organic separately for hydronic and steam, forced air replacement, service calls and light commercial. Four small pictures beat one average.

    Heating content pays back over a season, not a month. Compare this November against last November and be plain about the fact that weather moved both. Anyone who reports month over month growth in a Chicago winter is reporting the temperature.

    Watch inquiries by landing page, booked jobs by landing page, and average ticket per content family. Rankings are a diagnostic. They are not the result, and a screenshot of one is not a report.

    If a family of pages produces nothing across a full heating season, retire it rather than adding five more like it. Cutting content is part of the job.

    How long before organic search produces booked work?
    Nobody can promise a date, and be wary of anyone who does. Heating content generally needs to be indexed and settled before the season it serves, which means work done in summer is judged the following winter. We would set the first honest review point at the end of a full heating season, comparing against the same months a year earlier.
    We only serve part of the suburbs. Do we still need pages for those towns?
    Only for towns where you can write something true and specific about the work. A page for Skokie or Evanston that just repeats your service list with the name changed will not rank and adds nothing. If you cannot describe the buildings, the access or the typical job there, put the effort into a building type page instead.
    Is the map pack the same thing as SEO?
    They overlap but they are not the same. The local pack leans heavily on proximity to the searcher, so it is largely decided by where your address is. Standard organic results underneath are winnable further out with better content. Most Chicago shops need both, and should know which of the two produced each call.
    We mostly install forced air. Is boiler content worth writing?
    If you service or replace hydronic and steam systems at all, yes, because the competition for those queries is weak and the buildings are everywhere in the city. If you do not touch that work, do not write it. Ranking for jobs you turn away wastes your phone time and annoys the caller.
    Can you guarantee first page rankings for Chicago HVAC terms?
    No, and no agency can. Rankings depend on competitors, on the searcher's location and on changes we do not control. What we can commit to is a defined set of pages, a schedule, and reporting that shows inquiries and booked jobs by page rather than a rank screenshot.
