    Organic search for a St. Louis roofing company is not one market. It is an independent city, a county made of many small separate municipalities, St. Charles County to the west, and the Metro East across the river in Illinois. One business profile pin sits in one of those places. Proximity caps how far that pin travels in the map pack, which means the map pack alone will never cover your service area. The work that pays is written work: pages built around the roof problems people actually type, and pages built around the municipality they live in. That is what this page argues, and how to sequence it.

    The searches that turn into inspections describe a symptom or a detail, not a trade.

    The head terms are crowded with franchises and lead resellers who buy their way in. The symptom pages are mostly empty, and they are read by someone with water in the house today.

    Your business profile pin decides which half of this market ever sees you in the map pack, and it cannot sit in two places.

    The City of St. Louis is an independent city with its own government. County residents treat it as a different place and search accordingly. A pin downtown does not do much for someone in Ballwin, and a pin in Chesterfield does not do much for someone in Soulard.

    Plan around the limit instead of fighting it. Fake locations and mailbox addresses are a fast way to lose the profile you have. If you open a second staffed yard, that changes the math, and it should be a real business decision first.

    The version that fails is a template with the name swapped. Readers spot it in one scroll and so does search. Write from job history: a slate hip in Webster Groves, a low-slope addition in Maplewood, a ranch in Florissant, a brick two-family in University City.

    Start where your crews already are. Ten pages built from real work outrank sixty thin ones, and they do not put your whole site at risk.

    Photograph the actual street, not a stock roof. A homeowner in Kirkwood can tell whether the house in your photo is a Kirkwood house.

    Built-in gutters and ice at the eave are winter searches you write in August

    Freeze-thaw generates a predictable question set, and those pages have to be live before the first hard freeze, not during it.

    Ice at the eave, ice inside a gutter, water backing up under shingles, ponding on a flat roof, downspouts that freeze solid. Older brick homes here often carry built-in or box gutters, and those produce their own worried searches every January.

    Write and publish in late summer. Pages need time to be found, and a page published the week of a freeze arrives after the homeowner has already called somebody.

    Keep the answers plain. What generally causes it. What ventilation and insulation generally have to do with it. What a homeowner can safely look at from the ground. When to stop looking and call. On insurance questions, send them to their own insurer rather than guessing for them.

    The same pages do double duty as landing pages for winter ads, which makes them cheaper than they look.

    The Metro East is a second market, not the far edge of your radius

    Illinois is a different state with different rules, and your site should say plainly whether you cross the river.

    Someone in Belleville or Edwardsville does not search for a St. Louis roofer. They search for a roofer in Belleville or in Madison County, and they notice when a company treats the Illinois side as an afterthought.

    If you work over there, give it its own pages, its own photos and its own proof. Licensing differs by state. Say you are licensed for the jurisdictions you serve and let the reader confirm the specifics with the relevant authority rather than publishing rules that may change.

    If you do not cross the river, say so in writing. Turning away a call you were never going to serve is cheaper than driving to it.

    St. Charles County deserves the same treatment for the same reason. Different county, different buyers, different competitors.

    Commercial and multi-family work is searched with assembly and detail language, and most local roofing sites publish none of it.

    Membrane names, recover versus tear-off, coatings, scuppers and internal drains, parapet and coping details. A storefront near Delmar and a four-family near Tower Grove are searched with words a homeowner would never use.

    Building owners and property managers read differently than homeowners. They want scope, sequencing, tenant disruption and what happens if the deck is bad once you open it up. Write for that reader on separate pages.

    One page per assembly, plus one page on the decision itself, is usually enough to start. The decision page is the one that gets forwarded internally.

    Traffic will be small. The visits are buildings rather than roofs, so a handful of them changes a year.

    How long before organic search produces calls?
    No honest agency will give you a date. Results depend on what already exists on your site, how much competition sits on those terms, and how fast pages get published. What we can commit to is sequence: the pages that answer urgent problems first, then the municipalities where your crews already work, then the commercial and low-slope set.
    Should we build a page for every municipality in St. Louis County?
    No. Build them where you actually work and where you have photos and job history to write from. A small set of specific pages performs better than a large set of templated ones, and thin duplicated pages can drag down the pages that are working.
    Do we need separate content for the Illinois side?
